Qualstar Corp. this weekannounced that it has doubled the capacity and performance of all models of its TLS-4000 Series and the new RLS-Series of Automated Tape Libraries.
The combined library families now offer capacities from 400 gigabytes to over 150 terabytes and house from one to twelve drives.
The company said the TLS-Series and certain models of the RLS-Series use AIT tape technology, including the latest AIT-3 drives, which are now entering production. Each AIT-3 tape cartridge has a native capacity of 100 gigabytes.
According to Qualstar, the sustained native data transfer rate of each drive is over 43 gigabytes per hour. Advanced compression technology can yield capacities in a single library exceeding 150 terabytes, and an aggregate data transfer rate over 1.3 terabytes per hour.
