Quantum Corp.’s DLTtape Group has unveiled a promotion with NovaStor, a developer and supplier of backup, disaster recovery and data interchange software, to enable customers to easily safeguard valuable data quickly and more effectively.
June kicks off a tape cartridge promotion where each seven-pack of Quantum DLTtape IV media will include a free mini-CD containing NovaStor’s TapeCopy tape duplication and conversion software. The special offer is expected to last until December 31, 2001.
“As part of a best practices effort, Quantum is encouraging corporations to duplicate media, especially long-term (archive) tapes, in order to increase protection of important data,” said Dana Kritter, marketing director, DLTtape Media Division, Quantum DLTtape Group, in a statement.
“TapeCopy software allows users to easily and cost effectively duplicate data backups and archives on DLTtape media and keep these duplicate copies onsite for immediate access to critical files or in another location offsite for disaster recovery purposes,” said Brian Dickman, vice president of marketing for NovaStor.
An additional benefit of TapeCopy software is that it allows users to duplicate data from different tape formats to reliable DLTtape media. This provides the user with added protection from the possible failure of other tape technology hardware or media.
DLTtape users can also convert between different DLTtape formats. Copying backup data from DLTtape IIIXT media to DLTtape IV media is a snap and TapeCopy accomplishes this duplication quickly and easily without tying up significant system resources.
Details regarding the promotion rules can be found online. Prizes like a Palm M505 handheld, a Bose Wave Radio/CD or a Garmin eMap Deluxe GPS are also being given away.
