Quantum|ATL Passes Brocade Test

Quantum Corporation subsidiary and DLTtape aumomation product vendor Quantum|ATL today announced that its P3000 Series automated tape library has been verified by Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. as interoperable with Brocade-based Storage Area Networking (SAN) infrastructure. The testing was conducted through the Brocade Fabric Aware(TM) Program.


According to Quantum|ATL, the P3000 library is designed to satisfy the needs of data-intensive applications with high performance, capacity and high availability. A single P3000 module supports up to 16 DLTtape, Super DLTtape(TM) and/or LTO Ultrium tape drives and 326 cartridges for a native data transfer rate of up to 637 gigabytes per hour and a native capacity of 35.9 terabytes using Super DLTtape. A fully expanded P3000 with five library modules can accommodate up to 80 tape drives and 1,630 cartridges with a native data transfer rate of 3.2 terabytes per hour and a native capacity of 179.3 terabytes.


Brocade says its Fabric Aware program is a comprehensive testing and configuration initiative designed to foster end-to-end SAN interoperability in a multi-vendor, heterogeneous environment. As part of the program, companies agree to specify, test and jointly support pre-tested SAN configurations that comprise a heterogeneous mix of servers, storage subsystems, Fibre Channel switches and other SAN technologies in an enterprise environment.
