SAN management vendor SANavigator Inc. and storage resource management tools company W. Quinn Associates, Inc. (WQuinn) today announced a joint OEM agreement to integrate and sell each other’s storage management software
The agreement initially involves SANavigator(TM) 2.0, the latest version SANavitator’s device-independent SAN management application, and WQuinn’s SpaceMaXX SRM, a storage resource management utility for Windows(R) NT, 2000, 9x, ME and NAS appliances.
“Customers are looking for end-to-end storage management solutions,” said Carolyn DiCenzo, chief analyst, Gartner Dataquest. “Cooperative development and selling relationships offer a broader solution for customers and a wider channel for both vendors. The collaboration between SANavigator and WQuinn should result in stronger individual products as well as a more complete combined solution. Both customers and vendors win with these kinds of partnerships.”
Under the terms of the agreement, there will be a phased integration of the products. In the initial integration, SANavigator will launch WQuinn’s SpaceMaXX SRM, a disk storage analysis tool that monitors storage utilization at the partition level. SANavigator’s Event Manager will be able to collect and process the capacity utilization events reported by SpaceMaXX. In subsequent phases of integration, the plan, according to the companies, is for products to link logical and physical information.
As part of the strategic agreement, the WQuinn products will be available from SANavigator as separate modules. WQuinn will also initially refer SANavigator as a separate product and subsequently sell SANavigator direct to WQuinn’s customers.
