SANcastle Technologies newest product, the GFS-2,is the copmanies entry into the gateway market for interconnecting Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet networks.

“SANcastle is one of the few vendors in the FC/IP market that offer the option of using a single port solution for point to point configurations and a higher port count switched solution,” said Nancy Marrone, senior analyst at The Enterprise Storage Group. “This enables customers to distribute a consistent solution from a single vendor across their enterprise as needs dictate.”

According to SANCastle, the GFS-2 offers options for the low-end market. Like its sister product, the GFS-8, the company said the GFS-2 can be configured to provide point-to-point SAN Island integration across MANs or WANs. It also supports e-port for inter-switch connectivity with other Fibre Channel switches and Autonomous Region support.

The company expects the GFS-2 to be generally available on next month for $15,000.
