Emulex Corp., a supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs) announced that Storage Technology Corp. StorageTek said the certification of Emulex HBAs reinforces the two companies’ dedication to providing storage area network (SAN) interoperability, features and performance for enterprise-class customers. “StorageTek products capitalize on the strengths of tape storage, including high reliability, high availability and scalability, and the Emulex HBA architecture and feature set fully complements and adds value to our storage solutions,” said Pete Koliopoulos, StorageTek director of product marketing, Automated Tape Solutions.

According to StorageTek, its T9840A and 2Gb/s T9840B drives are capable of providing tape backup of 40-80 gigabytes (GB) per cartridge with data compression, while the StorageTek L180 tape library features data storage capacity that extends up to 19.14 terabytes.

Emulex said the LightPulse family of Fibre Channel HBAs offers full fabric support, high data integrity, full-duplex operation, data buffering for up to 100km of cabling and support for all Fibre Channel topologies. The Emulex LightPulse family of Fibre Channel products includes the 2Gb/s LP9002L and LP952L, low-profile HBAs, the 2Gb/s LP9002C CompactPCI HBA, the 2Gb/s LP9002S SBus-based HBA and the market-leading LP8000.
