StoreAge Unveils Replication Application

StoreAge Networking Technologies, a storage virtualization company, is now shipping MultiCopy, an advanced multi-level replication application.

StoreAge said MultiCopy offers organizations the ability to create many full copies of production volumes instantly and “on the fly” over any network bandwidth and structure, while not loading production servers.

Marc Farley, author of “Building Storage Networks”, said “Snapshot technologies are becoming the tools of choice for the forward-thinking IT managers. StoreAge’s MultiCopy is a valuable snapshot application for the heterogeneous open systems environment that uses the same popular snapshot concepts as those used by EMC, IBM and Hitachi the enterprise data center. Together with the company’s MultiView point-in-time snapshot product, MultiCopy provides a complete snapshot storage management system for any ‘instant access’ requirement.”

According to StoreAge, MultiCopy is implemented in conjunction with StoreAge’s SVM (Storage Virtualization Manager). MultiCopy enables the creation of multiple physical copies of volumes, regardless of storage subsystems and storge area network (SAN) components. Each copy is independently accessible and instantly available, allowing production servers to access data while the copy operation is in process.

The company said it will be demonstrating MultiCopy’s features and capabilities at the CeBIT 2002 fair, together with Assistra AG, StoreAge’s partner in Germany.
