Switch and Data Expands Agreement With Level 3

May 7, 2001

Switch and Data, a provider of carrier-neutral colocation centers and value-added infrastructure services, announced an agreement to expand its relationship with Level 3 Communications Inc.

The company said the agreement strengthens its leadership as a vendor-neutral colocation provider, and allows Level 3 to meet demand for bandwidth in key metropolitan facilities not operated by Level 3. The new agreement gives customers in 16 of Switch and Data’s carrier-neutral centers
nationwide access to Level 3’s high-speed network.

The agreement will enable Switch and Data’s customers to provision bandwidth using Level 3’s extensive Internet Protocol (IP) network. Additionally, the agreement will make available to Switch and Data customers additional, value-added networking services through Level 3’s fiber optic network.

“Switch and Data’s alliance with Level 3 demonstrates our pledge to deliver a broad range of networks to our footprint,” said Patricia Higgins, president and CEO of Switch and Data. “We’re continuing to attract a strong customer mix in part because of our contracts with Level 3 and other global, national and regional carriers.”

“We’re pleased to expand our relationship with Switch and Data,” said John Brito-Amador, vice president for Level 3. “Our relationship with Switch and Data and other third-party colocation providers gives Level 3 an important marketing channel that drives substantial traffic onto our metropolitan, intercity and undersea networks. As a result, making our high-performance, low-cost broadband services available to customers in facilities not operated by Level 3 continues to be a key part of our business strategy.”
