TeraStor Wants Additional Licensing for Patent Portfolio

TeraStor Corporation today announced that it is seeking additional licensing for its Near-Field Recording(TM) (NFR)(TM) high-capacity optical storage technology patent portfolio.

According to the company, its patent portfolio consists of more than 90 patents (issued and pending) representing approximately 2000 claims. It represents a combination of patents solely or jointly owned by TeraStor, as well as patents for which TeraStor has licensing rights.

“We firmly believe that NFR technology has tremendous potential to serve as a building block for future technologies that will empower enterprises, workgroups, and individual users with a new generation of mass storage products,” said Amyl Ahola, president and chief executive officer of TeraStor.

The TeraStor patent portfolio covers the basic physics of NFR, which are important in thermally aided magnetic recording (hybrid recording) and other recording methods.
