TrelliSoft, Inc., a provider of multi-platform storage resource management (SRM) software has renamed StorageAlert/DB to StorageAlert/Apps. The company said the name change was made to more accurately reflect the product’s focus on eliminating storage-related application problems and as a harbinger of future support for applications beyond DBMSs.
“StorageAlert/Apps is designed for storage professionals-not DBAs-who need to manage the storage that is allocated to mission critical applications,” said Steve Donovan, TrelliSoft president and CEO. “By monitoring and managing the storage associated with an application and its underlying databases, StorageAlert/Apps can help eliminate storage-related application problems such as downtime or over-allocated, unused space.”
According to Trellisoft, StorageAlert provides a consolidated view of storage, combining file system utilization with application utilization, across operating systems and storage devices, allowing administrators to drill down from a single large file allocated to an application to the storage details associated with the underlying data structures. The company said StorageAlert/Apps enables storage administrators to discover problems in critical applications, quickly pinpointing the trouble spot, whether it’s an individual user or specific application table space.
