Network attached storage (NAS) vendor Tricord Systems, Inc. today announced an agreement with Iomega to create a NAS solution for backing up and restoring user data on desktops and laptops.
The companies said they have paired Tricord’s Lunar Flare NAS product with Iomega’s client back-up application, QuikSync(TM) 3. Effective immediately, each Lunar Flare NAS appliance will be shipped with a 30-day trial license of Iomega’s QuikSync 3 software, which is used on client laptops or desktops running on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems such as Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 95, 98 Second Edition, Millennium Edition, Windows NT(R) 4.0, and Windows 2000 Professional.
“Tricord’s partnership with Iomega combines our collective expertise in storage, networking and back-up technology to eliminate this critical risk of data loss by providing a fast, simple and cost-effective automated solution. By bundling Iomega’s QuikSync 3 software with our Lunar Flare NAS, we are extending our value proposition – offering an insurance policy on valuable data by enabling users to restore lost data instantaneously, without suffering additional loss of time and money.”
After the installation and configuration process, the Iomega QuikSync 3 software designates a Lunar Flare NAS cluster as the back-up destination. According to the companies, this enables the PC user or system administrator to quickly and easily create, backup, protect, and restore multiple versions of files currently stored on desktops and laptops.
