VERITAS Software Corporation today announced it has entered into a partnership with LSI Logic Storage Systems to offer its mutual customers heterogeneous host operating system support. VERITAS and LSI have cooperated to certify VERITAS Foundation Suite(TM) and VERITAS Cluster Server(TM) with LSI’s MetaStor(R) E-Series storage system family that offers heterogeneous host operating system support, LUN masking and advanced diagnostics.
According to the companies, this method of consolidating enterprise storage allows end users to reduce administrative costs by simplifying diagnostics of devices on the fiber channel loop and extending LUN masking capabilities. Each of the storage arrays may have up to 16 partitions and up to 128 volumes per partition. The increased functionality further addresses customers’ diverse multiplatform needs, by scaling to meet growing enterprise network demands.
“By integrating with VERITAS Software, we are committed to supporting heterogeneous hosts and partitions for the open-systems market, said Gerard Meluso, director of alliances, LSI Logic Storage Systems. “In this industry, concerted efforts between hardware and software vendors are critical. We rely on leading storage software, VERITAS, to help our customers address issues that can’t be resolved exclusively by a hardware implementation.”
