VERITAS Expands Storage Management Solutions

VERITAS Software Corp., a storage software company, announced the release of VERITAS NetBackup Storage Migrator(TM) for Windows 2000.

The company said the hierarchical storage management (HSM) solution allows transparent movement of infrequently accessed data to cost-effective media while simultaneously allowing users full access to their files. Additionally, VERITAS Software announced the release of a new version of VERITAS NetBackup Storage Migrator(TM) for Microsoft Exchange (version 3.0), offering automated capability to migrate and recall older e-mail attachments to and from less expensive “near-line” or offline storage.

“From the start, VERITAS NetBackup Storage Migrator reduces IT costs by shrinking the storage footprint,” said John Maxwell, vice president of Product Marketing at VERITAS Software. “Using HSM to off-load files decreases the amount of data associated with a primary serverultimately fewer servers are needed and an IT budget can be salvaged.”
