The company formerly known as Netergy Networks Tuesday released an improvement to its telecommunications application software offerings.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based 8×8, Inc. offers telecommunication services platforms, hosted iPBX solutions (through its French subsidiary Centile), voice and video semiconductors and related software.
Known as Service Logic Execution Environment (eSLEE), the new software succeeds the company’s service creation environment (SCE) technologies by providing a framework for phone-based applications.
So far the prognosis is good. The eSLEE software was benchmarked by 8×8 on a single processor Sun Ultra 10 running Solaris 8 and Java 1.3.1 handling more than one million Busy Hour Call Attempts (BHCA), equivalent to more than 300 calls per second.
The software supports SIP, JTAPI, XML and JMX interfaces and runs on Java virtual machines available on Linux, Solaris and Windows-based operating systems.
The announcement is particularly sweet as the company looks to rebound from its restructuring earlier this year.
Just this week, executives announced that the company had settled a major licensing lawsuit filed against it in April 2001 in British Columbia by Milinx Business Services, Inc. and Milinx Business Group, Inc.
8×8 was one of five named defendants in the lawsuit, the others being Sun Microsystems Netscape Communications in Canada, Burntsand, Inc., and Intraware Canada, Inc.
