Abridean Announces Provisiong Platform for Microsoft HMC

The goal of Microsoft’s Hosted Messaging and Collaboration (HMC) program is to allow service providers to quickly and efficiently deploy hosted applications. To help achieve that goal, Abridean Inc., a Halifax, Nova Scotia-based application infrastructure independent software vendor (ISV), today announced AbrideanProvisor for HMC.

There is good motivation to continue to improve on shared-infrastructure tools for messaging and collaboration applications. Abridean cites IDC research that estimates ASP revenues for collaborative services will reach $7.4 billion by 2005. IDC also reports that 56 percent of worldwide business e-mail mailboxes will be hosted by 2005.

AbrideanProvisor for HMC is a provisioning platform designed to simplify and automate the processes required for service providers to offer hosted services, including the set-up, assignment and management of application privileges and resources.

“Abridean provides a valuable platform to help service providers get the Hosted Messaging and Collaboration solution up and running quickly,” said Pascal Martin, general manager of platform and application hosting at Microsoft.

Developed with Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft’s HMC solution is designed to offer a turn-key solution that allow service providers to quickly build a hosted messaging and collaboration solution.

“AbrideanProvisor has completed the HMC testing on HP ProLiant servers, HP StorageWorks solutions and with the HP ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack,” said Mark Linesch, vice president, Infrastructure Solutions, HP Industry Standard Servers. “The ProLiant Essential Rapid Deployment Pack manages initial software deployment, preparing the server for AbrideanProvisor to manage application and user provisioning.”

AbrideanProvisor for HMC, according to the company, allows service providers to achieve the following results:

  • decrease the ongoing cost and complexity of technical and operational support
  • increase efficiency with predictable and repeatable transactions
  • manage tiered software licensing
  • provide a solution that is extensible to meet current and future provisioning needs
  • service channel resellers while ensuring infrastructure security
  • increase speed to market by simplifying implementation and deployment

Abridean is listed by ASPnews as a Top 30 Enabler.
