St. Paul, Minn.-based IT outsourcing and consulting services provider Agiliti Inc. on Wednesday announced it has acquired Walson Technology Inc., a Golden Valley, Minnesota, a consulting firm that provides services and technologies focused on enterprise messaging, collaboration, and network infrastructure.
“We’re excited about adding the excellent capabilities of Walson’s consultants to our professional services team,” said Tom Kieffer, founder and CEO of Agiliti. “We’ve known the firm for several years, and have great respect for the reputation they have established and their technical knowledge and consulting expertise.”
As a practitioner of “selective outsourcing,” Agiliti has for some time been helping its clients move toward utility computing
Agiliti’s offerings include outsourced data center services ranging from co-location to fully managed hosting; infrastructure and application monitoring; and services such as remote storage and vaulting, security assessments and disaster recovery solutions.
Early in 2003, the company added professional services to round out its offerings — leveraging its IT infrastructure expertise to help enterprise customers deliver IT better for themselves and to help them transition to the new utility computing model on their timeframe.
“Our clients continue to selectively and strategically outsource portions of their IT operations,” said Tom Kieffer. “And the addition of the Walson Technology team extends our technical capabilities and allows us to serve an even larger client base as we continue our growth.” Agiliti’s client list now numbers more than 300.
Founded in 1999 by Walt Henderson, Walson’s core technologies include Microsoft’s Windows 2000/2003, Exchange 2000/2003, Active Directory, and IBM/Lotus’s Domino and WebSphere. Key solutions based on these technologies include server migration and consolidation, high-availability infrastructure design and deployment, and workflow automation.
The service deliverables that accompany its solutions include architectural design, project management, migration and implementation, and knowledge transfer. Walt Henderson is now VP of Integration Services for Agiliti and part of its leadership team reporting directly to CEO Tom Kieffer.
Some of Walson’s past clients include Allina, Asian Foods, Capella University, Digi International, Dorsey & Whitney, Evolving Solutions, Express Scripts, General Mills, Honeywell, Northwest Airlines, Opus Corporation, Upsher-Smith, Valspar, and Young America.
Agiliti has been recognized as a Top 30 Enabler on the ASPnews.com Top 50.
