America Online Inc., looking to expand its “AOL Anywhere” strategy, Tuesday partnered with Radiant Systems Inc. in a deal that will take the world’s largest online service on the road.

As part of the multi-year agreement, AOL will make an undisclosed strategic investment in Radiant Systems. The two companies will also work to offer interactive access at retail locations in the future.

Radiant Systems provides interactive commerce tools for a variety of brick-and-mortar establishments. These systems will work with AOL to offer consumers interactivity such as e-mail, news and information from retail locations such as gas stations, restaurants and stores. The first step is to integrate AOL’s Moviefone resource into Radiant hardware and software applications for the movie theater industry.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Radiant on new and innovative platforms to market and deliver convenient interactive experiences to millions of consumers whether they’re online or in line at a movie theater, restaurant, convenience store or gas station,” said Donn Davis, chief operating officer of AOL Interactive Properties Group.
