Corel Enters EDeN

Systemsfusion, a provider of management software and aggregation services for the hosted application distribution channel, Thursday (Sept 14) announced that it will distribute key Corel software office suites and graphics titles as part of its EDeN network of outsourced applications for ASPs and their business customers.

Titles covered under the agreement include WordPerfect Office 2000, Corel Print Office 2000, CorelDRAW 9 Graphics Suite, CorelDRAW 9 Office Edition, Corel Custom Photo, Corel Print House Magic 4 and Corel’s Online Content collection of 110,000 photos and clip art.

The Corel applications will strengthen Systemsfusion’s offerings to ISPs entering the ASP marketplace, who purchase applications in the EDeN network on a mix-and match basis and use Systemsfusion’s Evolutionware management software for provisioning, billing and other back-end functions. In turn, the expanded EDeN library of offerings will give providers’ small and mid-sized business customers a broader selection of core applications available under the outsourcing model.

“This agreement with Systemsfusion enables us to expand our reach to the small and medium enterprise through the ASP model. It also gives us the ability to reach ASPs in the European market through Systemsfusion’s European partners,” said David McKeen, VP of business development and corporate web strategy for Corel Corporation (Toronto Stock Exchange: COR). “It is a good fit for our channel partner strategy.”

“With everything from word processing and spreadsheets to illustration and page layout programs, Corel’s applications will form a cornerstone of our EDeN network,” said Nevo Hadas, Vice President of Business Development for Systemsfusion, Inc.

Systemsfusion’s EDeN hosted distribution channel gives service providers an efficient framework for procuring, paying for, distributing, managing and billing for software applications. By giving providers a choice of applications to offer their customers, it eliminates the need for providers to seek out and secure the applications themselves. By presenting those applications under an integrated management interface, it also frees providers from the time and expense of performing integration duties. These services enable ISPs to make a smooth transition to the ASP marketplace.

Applications can be grouped into packages and priced in any way the service provider desires, delivered from the provider’s own servers or those of a third-party, and billed in any manner of the provider’s choice. Providers can aggregate applications and services from partners and third-party networks as well as from the EDeN channel.

Corel is the latest in a series of recent additions to the EDeN platform. Systemsfusion recently announced a partnership with Evoke Communications to add its Evoke Webconferencing and Mobile Webconferencing services to EDeN.

Another recent addition is Aelix‘s Qortet Unified Messaging Service, offering a centralized inbox for voicemail, email, faxes and pages from a single database, accessible online, by phone or wireless device.

In August, Systemsfusion became one of 20 charter members of Tarantella‘s ASP Connect Program, an invitation-only organization for both subscriber- and datacenter-oriented ASP providers. It is designed to help OEMs, ASPs, ISVs, resellers and others become successful in the ASP market. It sponsors events, seminars and other activities providing members with a forum to exchange ideas and create relationships that will move the ASP business model forward. Tarantella is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Santa Cruz Operat

ion Inc. .
