Critical Path Unifies Communications

In a bid to help service providers deliver unified voice and data
communications services to subscribers, Critical
Path Inc.
, the San Francisco, Calif.-based provider
of integrated communications solutions yesterday announced a partnership
with messaging systems provider, Mediagate.

The strategic partnership will create a joint integrated communications
solution, combining Mediagate’s iPost unified communications platform with
the Critical Path Communication
Platform to route, store and provide access to voice, text and multi-media
messages from a single inbox and from any device.

Both firms are already rolling out the solution to service providers in
Germany, Israel and Italy, with services going live in the first quarter of
2002.

“The Critical Path/MediaGate solution makes it easy to deploy unified
communications services securely, enabling service providers to bring
enhanced, differentiated, value added solutions to market quickly,” says Sue
Barsamian, senior vice president of marketing at Critical Path.

“Both Mediagate and Critical Path are similar in our commitment to
Internet
standards that enable flexibility, scalability and the lowest possible total
cost of ownership for service providers,” she continues.

The combined solution is designed so that service providers can give
end-users full control over their communications with the aim increasing
subscriber loyalty.

Individually, the Critical Path platform provides the email messaging,
calendar, personal address book and backend management systems, while
Mediagate enables the consolidation and delivery of voice/fax services
through the traditional email inbox, delivering the single view for managing
all digital communications.

“Service providers can now develop personalized voice, text, and
multimedia services that match their subscribers’ individual preferences,”
says Donnie Malone vice president of sales of Mediagate.

“These new personalized multi-modal communications solutions provide a
dramatic improvement over legacy web and wireless solutions that exist today
because they enable subscribers to use multiple methods for accessing the
system, including voice navigation, wireless, wireline and web access,” he
explains.
