Digex Adds to Management Team

Digex, Inc.has named Sandy Blaisdell as senior vice president of the WorldCom Business Unit and George Kerns as senior vice president of Operations. The Laurel, Md.-based Digex provides high-end managed Web and application hosting services for some of the world’s leading companies.


Blaisdell will be responsible for managing and growing Digex’s strategic relationship with WorldCom, including channel development, process design and optimization, international objectives and overall support initiatives related to WorldCom. She will also be responsible for coordination of the global build-out of the Digex SmartCenters within the WorldCom facilities both domestically and internationally.


Blaisdell recently served as vice president of Network Service Delivery at PSINet, and, prior to that, she owned and operated an international consulting company.


Kerns will be responsible for all Digex technical operations worldwide, including application and server management, network operations, data center operations and customer support. He joins Digex from HarvardNet, where he held the position of chief operating officer.


Prior to HarvardNet, Kerns served as senior vice president and general manager of Customer Services Delivery for BBN Planet/GTE Internetworking, where he directed operations for all lines of business.
