EDS, Epicentric Deliver Portal Management Solution

EDS , the Plano, Texas-based provider of strategy, implementation and hosting services and Epicentric, a provider of business portal software, today launched EDS Enterprise Portal Management (EPM), a software and services platform.

The EPM platform aims to help businesses reduce costs associated with managing and delivering Web initiatives through offering a centralized command center for to aid efforts such as enterprise-wide portals, legacy system Web-enablement and supply system Web-enablement.

“Portals, intranets and Web sites have exploded across the enterprise, resulting in hundreds of Web initiatives being managed and delivered by individual business units,” said John McCain, president of EDS’ E Solutions line of business.

“Epicentric’s new Enterprise Portal Management system will be one of the cornerstones of our EPM Platform. It will enable us to consolidate silo portals and rogue Web initiatives for our Global 1000 customers, thus reducing their hardware, maintenance and support costs, now and in the future,” he explains.

The EPM platform solution combines EDS’ integrated applications, technology and professional services with Epicentric’s Foundation Server 4.0 and Portal Command Center. The platform also includes:

  • Integrated applications: ERP, CRM, e-commerce, security and content management;
  • Managed services: outsourcing and rapid prototyping and delivery;
  • Maintenance and customer support programs; and
  • Integrated e-learning solutions for enhanced user adoption.

“It’s clear that major customers, who have already spent millions on web-based initiatives, will not invest more without a clearer path to success and return on investment,” says Michael Crosno, CEO, Epicentric.
