Ellacoya Expands, Adds Execs

Jul 24, 2001

Internet services developer Ellacoya Networks today announced the appointment of new executives to the management team and its launch of operations in the Asia Pacific market.

Ellacoya Networks has named Varun Nagaraj as executive vice president of Solutions and Services and Tom Ruff as vice president of Sales, Americas. In addition, the company recently opened offices in Sydney, Tokyo and Hong Kong, and is in the process of installing pilot deployments in China and Japan.

“Strengthening our account management on a geographic basis and readying an organization to support the deployments of our platform prepares us well to begin shipping the Premium Services Delivery System,” said Ron Sege, Ellacoya’s president and CEO. “We are excited to have attracted the caliber of talent we have in both Varun and Tom, enabling us to augment our customer-facing management team with even more proven industry ability,”

Nagaraj is responsible for the organization and processes that enable Ellacoya Networks and its partners to deliver a comprehensive set of business solutions and life cycle services to broadband access carriers, helping them to analyze, plan, build and operate their new service carrier businesses.

He was most recently a partner at management consultancy PRTM, and prior to PRTM, Nagaraj was a founding member of Hewlett Packard’s Systems Integration Operation. He holds a Bachelors degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, a Masters in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University, and an MBA from Boston University.

Ruff is responsible for revenue generation, management of field sales personnel and acquisition of major customers across the Americas. Ruff previously served as the Director of Sales & General Manager – North America for NaviPath, a network infrastructure company. Prior to NaviPath, he performed sales management roles with network and software application industry leaders PictureTel and Lotus Development Corp. Ruff holds a BS in Business/Marketing from the University of Maryland.

The Ellacoya Networks Premium Services Delivery System is a turnkey solution for enabling service providers to bundle and deliver subscription-based premium services. The system consists of integrated hardware and software technology platforms as well as business solutions, allowing end users to click-and-subscribe to premium services, taking advantage of automated provisioning, instant delivery of content, application and network services, and real time billing capabilities.

Privately held Ellacoya Networks, based in Merrimack, N.H., has secured over $86M in venture funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Centennial Ventures, Goldman Sachs and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
