Last week, LogicTier Inc. combined its Total Performance Management services with the global broadband network and Internet and communications facilities of Level 3 Communications, Inc. in a five-year $100 million agreement.

LogicTier, Inc. is an e-business operations sourcing company that guarantees Web site end-user performance levels. Level 3 Communications, Inc.is an international communications network using IP technology end-to-end.

Terms of the agreement call for LogicTier to act as the preferred provider of managed services for Level 3’s media, entertainment and e-commerce customers with high-performance Web site management requirements. This will help LogicTier expand on its global mapping of Performance Data Centers (PDC), facilities that house the company’s network, server and applications equipment.

“LogicTier is a new breed of service provider that enables customers requiring managed outsourcing of their e-business infrastructure to take advantage of Level 3’s continuously upgradeable global IP network,” Mike Knaisch, senior vice president of strategic alliances, Level 3, said.

LogicTier plans to build large, private-access hard-wall suites with Level 3 colocation facilities to support its rollout of PDCs, which include additional layers of biometric authentication and video surveillance security systems, redundant dedicated routers and dedicated access to supplemented backbone carriers.
