NaviSite Introduces ‘Best Practices’ Professional Services

NaviSite Inc. (Nasdaq: NAVI) Monday (Oct 16) announced five new services aimed at helping customers to rapidly develop, test and deploy highly scalable web applications.

NaviSite’s professional services span all phases of a customer’s e-business life cycle. These services help companies align their system performance with business objectives; rapidly move from concept to implementation; deploy an optimal infrastructure; and reduce the risks associated with launching a new Internet site.

“This is a full life cycle set of services, focusing on supporting the customer,” NaviSite VP of professional services Jeff Loeb told ASP News. “Our professional services offerings enable our customers to achieve world-class web operations, while freeing up critical resources to focus on their core business.”

NaviSite’s Readiness Assessment Service is aimed at ensuring an organization’s readiness to deploy a web-based solution and to minimize implementation risk. Following NaviSite’s proven methodology, professional service experts review all aspects of a customer’s deployment plans and create an assessment document that highlights the site operational assumptions, identifies risks and documents the high-level architecture.

The Solution Analysis and Design Service provides customers with an array of services to build and implement high-performance, supportable solution architectures. NaviSite develops all aspects of site design – including overall architecture, capacity planning, scalability considerations, data management needs and hardware and software recommendations – to provide a customized solution that satisfies the customer’s business strategy, growth and performance and operational needs.

The Custom Monitoring Service supplies customers with a comprehensive monitoring and management solution for mission-critical applications. By augmenting NaviSite’s existing monitoring infrastructure, customers receive a customized solution that focuses on the security, availability and high performance for any application.

The Health Check Service assesses an e-business system’s current capabilities and weighs them against potential changes in business or technical conditions. NaviSite technical consultants develop findings and recommendations and give the customer an enhancement roadmap that lays out the potential benefits and pitfalls of changes. Performance history is evaluated, gaps in technical architecture are identified and recommendations for enhancements are made.

NaviSite’s Site Launch Management Service teams a NaviSite project manager with a customer’s new e-business introduction – ensuring the success of all aspects of site launch, including discovery, analysis and design, build, test and deployment. The service is targeted at companies that have aggressive implementation timelines, complex or rapidly changing requirements.

The professional services have been added incrementally since February, but now the life cycle has been completed, Loeb said. “We’ve fleshed out the basic framework. We’ll continue to innovate as the industry changes,” he said.

NaviSite’s SiteHarbor solutions provide co-location and high-performance hosting services, including Internet access, and server management solutions. In addition, NaviSite’s enhanced management services, beyond basic co-location and hosting, are designed to meet the expanding needs of businesses as their websites and Internet applications become more complex and as their needs for outsourcing all aspects of their online businesses intensify. The company’s application services, which include application hosting, management and rental, provide rapid deployment and reliable operation of business-critical applications, including managed services for streaming media.
