Australia’s OzEmail Limited today announced it has been
chosen by Apple Computer Australia as the exclusive pre-installed Internet service provider
for the Australian release of the iMac this week.
The hot-selling iMac, which is being touted by Apple as a complete Internet computer right
out of the box, will launch in Australia bundled with an OzEmail Internet connection and 100
free hours of Internet access in the first month. A one-time registration charge of $10
applies.
“iMac is the ideal computer for new customers who want to connect to the
Internet quickly and easily. We are pleased to team with OzEmail to make
accessing the Internet out of the box even easier for iMac purchasers,” said
Apple Computer Australia Managing Director Diana Ryall.
Apple has enjoyed strong sales of the iMac on the retail front since it reported in August that
first week pre-orders for the product had already reached 150,000 units.
Reuters reported last month that ComputerWare, a San Francisco Bay Area retailer
specializing in Apple products, conducted exit surveys that indicated nearly 15% of iMac
buyers were purchasing their first computer.
