Web-based conferencing applications that allow meetings, training sessions and collaborative presentations to take place at the click of a mouse have been rapidly gaining acceptance in enterprises of all sizes. However, many of these get-togethers still require an audio component so participants can communicate the old-fashion way.
To help integrate audio with collaboration, PlaceWare Inc. today announced ReadyPlace, a service designed to provide one-stop shopping for on-demand audio and Web Conferencing. The goal of the new offering is allow PlaceWare users to incorporate audio without needing to make reservations with separate providers.
“It’s all about convergence,” PlaceWare’s Bhaskar Roy, senior channel marketing manager, told ASPnews. Roy said that the Mountain View, Calif.-based Placeware opted to partner with Premiere Conferencing to offer the turnkey solution, rather than develop its own audio service.
“By taking an approach to integrate audio from leading teleconference providers into PlaceWare’s Web
Conferencing platform and offer them a virtual place to conduct their
meetings, our customers now have the convenient choice to purchase both
audio and web conferencing directly from PlaceWare,” said Dustin Grosse, vice president of
strategy and worldwide marketing at PlaceWare.
The service, Roy said, will be available on Nov. 21 on a per-minute, shared seat or named user basis. As a part of the service,
PlaceWare will provide entrance keys, telephone numbers and pass codes designed to
enable users to conference anytime.
Users will also receive a personalized ReadyPlace wallet card with all the information
required for initiating a Web meeting such as a company’s specific PlaceWare url and meeting id number.
