Portal Software, Inc. yesterday announced customer wins with a focus on the ASP and Internet business services markets.
Portal Software, Inc (PRFS) ,a customer management and billing company that provides powerful high-end packages, made a strong move into the ASP/IBS markets with over 20 new customers including Agillion, Inc., Agiliti, Corio, ebaseOne and Encanto Networks.
“Given the growth of the industry and our leadership position, I expect we’ll have many more customers by end of the year,” Paul Hoff, senior manager, market development, said, declining to give specifics.
Hoff explained to ASP-News that there are two breeds of ASPs. “Traditional ASPs host applications at their location,” he said. Corio is a leader in this space and our relationship with Corio shows we have good leadership positioning.”
Hoff continued to say that there are companies that develop applications themselves, designed to be Web-hosted from the start. “Like Agillion or Agiliti,” Hoff said. “Agiliti is an aggregator and shows the way the ASP marketplace is getting more complex.”
In other news, Portal joined the Cisco Systems’ Hosted Applications Initiative (CHAI), designed to provide businesses of all sizes with access to powerful applications. CHAI creates an emerging ecosystem of software application vendors, ASPs, ISP, co-location providers and system integrators.
Portal is also working together with Microsoft to enable ASPs to host Microsoft applications and use Infranet as the platform for ASP customer management and billing.
Another key platform relationship for Portal is with Ensim, providing ASPs with a complete platform for service deployment from service provision and management to revenue collection. The two companies are working together to tightly integrate Infranet with Server Xchange, allowing ASPs to reduce their time-to-market, scale their hosted applications and bill for them.
Portal also works with Xevo to jointly deliver an integrated service and customer management/billing solutions that provides ASPs with a platform for hosted application services. The companies’ combined solution enables ASPs to rapidly manage and deliver coordinated, scalable hosted application services via the Internet.
