Portal Software Inc. (Nasdaq:PRSF), a leading provider of business infrastructure software for broadband, wireless Internet, and next-generation communications services, Monday (Feb 26) announced that it has joined the Siebel Alliance Program and that the two companies will be working together to provide a joint solution.

Siebel Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL) is a leading provider of eBusiness applications software. As part of the alliance, the companies plan to bridge Portal Infranet with Siebel eCommunications 2000. When complete, the combined offering will enable a comprehensive eBusiness and billing solution to help communications service providers improve customer satisfaction through real-time customer billing account management.

“Competition in the communications industry continues to evolve at an unprecedented rate,” said Richard Campione, vice president and general manager of Siebel Communications and Energy. “It is now more important than ever for service providers to leverage customer relationships to drive and sustain competitive advantage. The combination of Portal Infranet and Siebel eCommunications will support the needs of today’s carrier by delivering the customer-centric solution needed in this hyper-competitive business environment.”

Designed specifically for the communications industry, Siebel eCommunications is a comprehensive family of eBusiness applications that allows organizations to manage, synchronize and coordinate all customer touchpoints including the Web, call center, field organization and distribution channels.

Siebel eCommunications is designed to support the needs of wireline, wireless, cable and Internet service providers serving a broad range of end-customers, from consumers, to businesses of all sizes. It offers functionality to create a closed loop among sales, marketing and customer service professionals.

“Portal Software has worked closely with Siebel Systems to implement and provide solutions to joint customers, which is why it makes good business sense for us to formalize an alliance,” said Steve Sommer, vice president of Business Development and Marketing at Portal. “With an alliance in place, we can integrate our products to deliver a complete eBusiness solution for service providers. Developing strong alliances has become a critical part of maintaining a competitive advantage in the continually evolving communications market. We are confident that our alliance with Siebel Systems will keep us in step with the long-term needs of our customers.”

Portal Software’s Infranet platform enables service providers to rapidly deploy new services, define optimal business models and price plans, and bill their users. Portal’s software is licensed by three-quarters of the world’s 30 largest communications services companies, supporting wireless, broadband Internet, next-generation voice and other e-service offerings.
