Global communications company Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc. hopes to accelerate its initiative to launch ASP and e-business services in the U.S. using its acquisition last week of ISP Shore.Net as a springboard.
Mclean, VA-based Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc. offers a portfolio of bundled domestic and international e-commerce, Internet, data and voice services. New England-based Shore.Net provides complex Web hosting, co-location and broadband connectivity services to more than 30,000 small and medium-sized enterprises and a limited number of residential customers in the New England region.
According to Primus, Shore.Net is a technologically advanced ISP that will serve as its main U.S. Internet provider and will play a major role in developing a national Internet presence for Primus.
“Shore.Net serves as an important building block for us to become a national provider of comprehensive ASP, e-business and broadband connectivity services,” said K. Paul Singh, chairman and chief executive officer. “We are now a single source provider of managed co-location, complex Web hosting, streaming media, content delivery, e-commerce, broadband access, security and consulting services.”
Shore.Net, too, sees the merger in a positive light. “Our association with Primus provides us with extraordinary resources and expertise to continue to meet the growing needs of our customers and to bring this proven formula to other markets as we expand Primus’ Internet operations in the U.S., ” Lowell Gray, founder and chief executive officer, Shore.Net, said.
Gray will head the new company, which will be a division of Primus. According to Shore.Net, all of its management team has agreed to remain.
