Online CRM provider Salesforce.com has appointed Frank van Veenendaal to its executive management team as Senior Vice President of Sales and Service. Van Veenendaal will be responsible for overseeing sales, consulting services and customer support operations for the Americas as salesforce.com expands into the mid-market with its subscription-based service.

“Frank’s appointment to the role of senior vice president comes at a strong growth period for salesforce.com and we’re confident he will help us continue on our path of success,” said Marc Benioff, chairman, president and CEO of salesforce.com. Benioff was reinstated as CEO after John Dillon’s recent departure.

Van Veenendaal brings 20 years of hardware and software sales experience to the position, most recently as senior vice president for Actuate Corporation, which he joined in 1995 as sales manager/regional director. Prior to Actuate, Frank spent six years as regional director for the Western region at Interleaf, Inc., where he was responsible for sales, consulting and training. He also held various sales and sales management positions for high tech companies such as Integrated Solutions and Pyramid. Van Veenendaal has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Founded in 1999, salesforce.com is headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Europe and Asia. Salesforce.com currently has more than 3,000 customers including Adobe Systems, Alamo Rent-a-Car, Autodesk, Broadvision, Wachovia, Siemens PT & D, and Thomas Cook Global Services.
