ScreamingMedia Platform Enhances Information Management

In a move that further embraces the Application Service Provider (ASP) model ScreamingMedia , the New York City-based content aggregator, today announced the launch of Actrellis, a technology platform designed so that enterprises can transform information into business intelligence.

The firm says the new software offering marks an important milestone, which it hopes will help accelerate its move into enterprise information management.

The Actrellis product suite, available in March 2002, aggregates information and data from third-party vendors, back-end applications, ScreamingMedia’s repository of content from over 3,000 sources and delivers it to multiple applications and platforms throughout an enterprise.

“With the launch of Actrellis we are addressing an important need in the enterprise,” says Kirk Loevner, president and CEO, ScreamingMedia.

He explains that together with the firm’s content and fully-integrated financial applications, Actrellis will help give employees, customers and partners access to critical targeted data and ultimately make better-imformed business decisions.

The Actrellis product line includes:

• Actrellis Integration Server; this pulls content from internal and external source repositories such as legacy systems, partners, websites and databases.

  The product then normalizes data into consistent formats for integration into existing applications including asset-management, portal, content management systems (CMS), and then targets audiences via PC’s, TV’s, cellular phones, PDA’s or kiosks.

• Actrellis Financial Application Suite; this draws from internal and external content that resides in a financial institution’s secure environment.

  Its open-API interfaces and XML protocols integrate the content into three interactive applications: a comprehensive portfolio application, a charting and analytical application, and a scrolling ticker. Open architecture and support for industry standards facilitate rapid deployment of the solution.

  The product is designed to allow financial firms to bring together market data and package it so that customers can make smarter investment decisions.

• Actrellis Alerts Server finds and extracts information from multiple sources and delivers it in the form of alerts to web environments, Intranets, Extranets and wireless applications.

  It delivers notification on critical information such as changes in a stock price, shipment and receipt of packages, airport delays, inventory alerts, as well as service and product updates.
