Sprint Adds LG InfoComm To PCS Product Line

Hoping to take advantage of the new fiscal year and companies’ replenished
budgets, Sprint has rolled out two new Internet-ready PCS phones to
complement its product line Monday.

The Sprint PCS Phone TP3000 and Touchpoint Phone TP1100 are the first phone
models released by the company as part of its $150 million agreement
earlier this year with Seoul, Korea-based LG InfoComm USA, a subsidiary of
LG Information & Communications, Ltd.

Other PCS providers include Nokia, Motorola, Sony, Samsung, Qualcomm and Sanyo.

Jae Bae, LG InfoComm USA president, said the phones provide easy,
convenient use without confusing the customer with too many features.

“(InfoComm) differentiates itself from its competitors by providing the
market with product options that offer compact form factors, advanced
features and functionality,” Bae said. “We’re committed to manufacturing
high quality and reliable wireless handsets with new and advanced wireless
technology. We often need to send or receive information — integrated and
converged technology will make functioning simpler.

The phones blur the line between phone and personal digital assistant,
bringing the converging technologies together under one product.

For example, with the TP3000, a person on a call with an associate can
navigate through Sprint’s formatted Web pages, by “flipping” up its
interface and engaging the speakerphone while using the pen to navigate.

The TP3000, which retails for $399.99 also brings the telephone and the PDA
together with it utilities, which include a scheduler, calendar, to-do
list and personal organizer.

The TP1100, more accessible because of its price at $149.99, offers an
enhanced phone book, separate external LCD, built-in headset and predictive
text entry software.

Charles Levine, Sprint PCS chief operating officer, said the phones
represent his company’s continued goal to providing cutting edge technology
at an affordable price.

“Sprint PCS is pleased to introduce two new wireless phones by LG InfoComm
to our product line,” Levine said. “We continue to offer customers the
latest phones with innovative new feature to fit their lifestyles. The
Sprint PCS Phone TP3000 and Touchpoint Phone TP1100 are ideal communication
tools for both business customers and consumers nationwide.”
