Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq: SUNW) Tuesday says it is acquiring Toronto-based e-learning company ISOPA for an unnamed amount of cash and stock. The specifics of the deal will depend on stockholder approval.
The Palo Alto-based networking company says it plans to incorporate ISOPIA into Sun’s Educational Services a worldwide IT training solutions organization.
ISOPA’s main products are its online training and management program known as Integrated Learning Management System (ILMS) and LearnTone, its ASP hosting solution that focuses specifically on training. The joint project will be under the guise of Sun Vice President and General Manager, Dr. Bill Richardson.
“Sun and ISOPIA will make an outstanding combination,” says ISOPIA CEO Omid Hodaie. “Sun technologies have been an integral part of our model from the beginning; ISOPIA’s ILMS system was built on Sun’s latest generation Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition. Together we will give Sun’s enterprise customers an exceptionally scalable and flexible end-to-end learning services solution.”
Sun says the current exponential growth of the Net economy made acquisition of privately held ISOPIA an easy choice. ISOPIA has 240 employees.
