Internet service provider Verio Inc. Tuesday announced plans for a
nationwide rollout of Digital Subscriber Line services aimed at businesses
and telecommuters.
The company kicked off the rollout by launching the service in Chicago.
Over the next several months, several more major markets will be added.
Verio already offers a smaller range of DSL services in San Diego, Los
Angeles and San Francisco.
Buddy Cunningham, Verio’s vice president of sales and marketing said the
DSL rollout will continue in phases. The company said DSL will complement
and enhance its existing Web hosting, e-commerce and virtual private
network services.
“Verio has been ramping up for a national DSL launch since introducing its
new high-speed services earlier this year in the three major California
markets,” he said.
No pricing details were given and the company did not elaborate on the
specific offerings that will be available. DSL service is available at
speeds ranging from 144 kilobits per second to as high as 7 megabits per
second.
The company will work with independent DSL providers to secure DSL
circuits. It will use those to offer its own brand of packages for a wide
range of customers, including telecommuters, small businesses and
organizations with more than 100 customers.
