Corporate communications ASP Vocus Inc.on Wednesday announced it has acquired the PRanywhere business line from LexisNexis, including the PressAccess media profile database. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will provide Vocus customers additional media profiles as well as providing Vocus with new customers. Existing PRanywhere users benefit from enhanced software features immediately, and an upgrade path to Vocus’ ASP solution.

“PRanywhere customers can continue to use their existing solution and also have access to enhanced capabilities from Vocus including brand analytics, interactive e-mail campaigns and online newsrooms,” said Rick Rudman, president & CEO of Vocus.

Vocus provides organizations with software to manage their communications processes, increase positive media coverage and measure the effectiveness of corporate communications campaigns. Vocus offers its solution as an ASP, so it reduces the high costs and long implementations common with client/server software.

LexisNexis, a member of Reed Elsevier Group plc, will continue to serve the PR professional market. “Public relations professionals remain a very important market to LexisNexis,” said Wendy Beecham, senior vice president for Enterprise & Library Solutions. “We continue to offer content solutions providing the widest and deepest information collections that PR professionals need to do their jobs.”
