WebEx Inks Online Automotive Exchange

WebEx Communications, Inc. , the San Jose, Calif-based Web conferencing ASP, today announced that Covisint, the automotive industry’s e-business exchange, will offer WebEx’s multimedia conferencing services to its global members.

“Our customers are managing complex manufacturing processes and WebEx’s interactive Web meeting services will improve communications and increase efficiency through the planning cycle and supply chain,” said Bob Matulka, director of collaboration at Covisint.

“WebEx’s interactive communications abilities complement Covisint’s existing suite of collaborative product development tools and can be leveraged throughout the company’s product suites for procurement, supply chain management and quality,” he added.

“The WebEx communications platform was designed to easily integrate with any application or Web service, providing seamless access to the power of the WebEx global network,” said David Farrington, vice president of corporate development at WebEx Communications.

“There is an enormous opportunity for WebEx to help the automotive industry decrease development times and costs, and improve collaboration and communications with suppliers and manufacturers.”

Founded by DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Renault, Commerce One and Oracle, Conxion is a global solutions provider aimed at improving business processes in the automotive industry, such as collaborative product development, procurement and supply chain management.
