ASP infrastructure software startup Xevo Corp expanded its partner program this week, adding five new industry heavyweights to the lineup, and launching three separate program categories.
And in an exclusive interview with ASPnews.com, company executives revealed its expansion to Europe with the opening of regional headquarters in the high-tech location of Sophia Antipolous, France.
The new partners are Marimba , Microsoft
, Progress Software
, and Compaq Computer
.
Xevo has also teamed with leading IP billing vendor Portal Software to develop integration between Xevo’s service mediation platform and Portal’s customer management and billing platform. Portal last week announced it is working with IBM to develop standards for ASP billing and customer management. Xevo’s ASP Workbench helps providers automate and coordinate the packaging, provisioning and metering of their ASP services, bringing together various elements of an ASP infrastructure including the data center components, operation support systems (OSS), business support systems (BSS) and hosted applications. The product was released in May – see related ASPnews.com story, Xevo ships ASP platform, May 2nd 2000.
As well as high-volume ASPs such as Futurelink and Telecomputing, companies that host or aggregate multiple ASP services are becoming a significant target customer base for Xevo. “The smart AIPs [ASP infrastructure providers] understand that, for an ASP to be successful, these types of OSS/BSS features have to be provided,” company founder Hal Chapel told ASPnews.com.
Xevo has split its partner program into three separate categories. Microsoft and Progress Software, each of whom operates extensive support programs of their own for ASP partners, join Great Plains and Onyx Software as ISV partners. Internet application management specialist Marimba joins Compaq, Cisco and Citrix as enabling technology providers. Compaq has also become the first XevoWorks enabling service provider, a program for professional services and systems integration firms that specialise in helping ASPs deploy infrastructure and services.
“The ASP is a new and complex business model. Developing the optimal hosting architecture is a difficult process with limited best practices, given the early stage of the industry,” commented Rick Hronicek, Xevo’s president and CEO. “The XevoWorks Partner Program combines best-of-breed technology and service vendors that design, develop and
integrate hosting management solutions, to quickly enable ASPs to offer reliable, scalable services to their customers.”
