ZipLink, DirectWeb Partner to Offer PCs With Internet Access

Internet service provider ZipLink, LLC
Monday entered into an agreement with DirectWeb, Inc. to provide national
Internet access services for DirectWeb’s comprehensive computing and Internet
solution.

DirectWeb, which debuted its services March 31 in the Philadelphia area,
offers its customers a personal computer complete with Internet access. The
company said it will provide 25,000 PCs to subscribers in Philadelphia in
exchange for customers signing up for ZipLink’s Internet service. Pricing
ranges from $19.95-$49.95 per month.

Roll-outs in additional markets are scheduled for the second quarter,
followed by an anticipated national roll-out later this year.

DirectWeb provides full-functioning Windows 98-based PCs with a minimum
configuration of an Intel Celeron 333 MHz chip. A 56kbps modem is also
included, and its agreement with ZipLink allows for unlimited Internet
access by DirectWeb customers. The computers are provided for the length of
the customer’s contract, and must be returned if cancelled, the firm said.

“It is extremely important for DirectWeb to deliver a seamless, quick and
easy Internet experience to
our subscribers,” said Dennis Cline, president and chief executive officer of DirectWeb.

“Our services allow DirectWeb the ability to take advantage of ZipLink’s
national infrastructure by transparently connecting DirectWeb users to our
network,” added Christopher Jenkins, president of ZipLink.

“This service is a high-quality, cost effective alternative to building and
maintaining a high-performance
TCP/IP network.”
