Mobility is sweeping across the enterprise. Not only are companies deploying a growing number of mobile devices, from smartphones to tablets, employees are also bringing their own devices to work.

The result? The need for more management solutions to handle the diverse set of devices from a variety of vendors and carriers.

Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) is the latest of several companies to offer mobile device management solutions. The company’s Enterprise Mobility Services covers mobile security, multi-platform mobile device management and support for the creation and deployment of customized mobile enterprise apps.

“As the complexity and challenge of managing a wider variety of mobile devices on multiple systems rises, we will deliver a mobile solution that is secure, manageable, scalable, and open in support of our customers,” Mary Chan, vice president of Dell Enterprise Mobile Solutions, said in a statement.

Dell said it plans to support the fragmented mobile landscape by deploying a mobile application server behind the enterprise firewall that will handle communications between mobile devices in the field and corporate data centers.
