Financial services is one of the few areas of m-commerce that has shown significant signs of life in the U.S. and online broker E-Trade Monday said it was upping the ante.

The company said it would offer extended trading hours to wireless users of the service. Specifically, the brokerage extended trading hours for wireless users from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The company said in a statement that the extended trading hours would enable wireless customers to act on financial news released before or after the open and close of trading. Like similar services from other brokerage houses, E-Trade’s wireless service already enables trading during normal business hours and enables users to view real-time quotes, research and market information and information about their portfolios.
