Transitions in the Web development and management tools
market continue this week with two announcements.

Netopia will be
purchasing Serus LLC, a Web site developer who has been creating new
Java-based technology for simplified Web page editing.

Netopia’s current offerings range widely from Timbuktu remote access
software, to routers, to Web hosting services under the name Netopia
Virtual Office.

At the same time, StarBase Corp. is
buying core technology from Site
Technologies Inc.
including the latter’s SiteMaster, SiteSweeper,
QuickSite, Webtools and SiteMarks products used for maintaining Web sites.
StarBase is known for its team-based Web development products.
