Adobe Unveils New Web Graphics Utility

Adobe Systems Inc. this week announced the release of Adobe ImageReady 1.0 for Windows and Macintosh, a tool designed to provide Web developers with a speedy way to prepare images for the Web.

Adobe said it is responding to the need for a unified image utility for Web development with ImageReady. The company said the tool provides designers with a comprehensive environment for the development and refining of Web graphics.

ImageReady’s batch processing tool allows designers to apply the same settings (such as the image compression setting) to hundreds of files in seconds. ImageReady also enables developers to create animations, image maps and tiled backgrounds.

Although the tool is designed to be a standalone product, it works seamlessly with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software. Used together, Adobe’s tools provide site designers with complete image editing, illustration, and production tools for every stage of the design process.

Adobe ImageReady may now be purchased from Adobe Authorized Resellers and normal retail outlets for a retail price of $199. For additional information about Adobe ImageReady, visit the Adobe Web site.
