Infomentum Monday released ASPLightning, a packaging and deployment tool designed to
protect the intellectual property of Web applications based on Microsoft’s
Active Server Pages technology.

ASPLightning protects ASP source code and is said to also improve
performance. While ASP applications are typically delivered as source code
and executed through the VBSCRIPT interpreter, ASPLightning applications
run as natively compiled code in the form of a Visual Basic 6.0 Active
Server Component DLL. This allows ASP developers to benefit from
Microsoft’s VB compiler technology without having to re-architect their
applications for a new programming model.

ASPLightning is priced at $299 per developer. Applications packaged with
ASPLightning can be distributed royalty-free. More information is
available at the ASPLightning site.
