DevX Adds Java Resources

DevX.com Inc. Wednesday reached a content agreement with jGuru.com, a B2B vertical portal for Java developers.

The agreement licenses DevX.com to feature jGuru’s FAQ section on the DevX network homepage and to create a weekly newsletter incorporating content from both companies. The jGuru FAQ has information about the Java programming language and allows users to ask questions or help others solve development problems. The companies will share advertising revenue derived from the new venture.

DevX.com is an online resource for the global application developer community. Its network includes independent technical content, expert advice, community resources, product information and e-commerce for development professionals. DevX said it currently hosts the largest audited audience of qualified IT development professionals. DevX has more than 2.6 million unique visits per month and 1.5 million e-mail subscriptions. It also has 8,000 paid “Premier Club” members.

“This key partnership will enable us to extend our franchise with another high-traffic developer resource and to benefit from the increased visitors and revenue it is likely to bring,” said Dave Clark, president of jGuru.com.

As part of the launch, DevX has asked Java expert Larne Pekowsky, author of JavaServer Pages, to participate in a special Java author event on its site. Pekowsky will answer Java developer queries and give specific advice and guidance through a hosted message board on the site. The event will last through Aug. 18.

Peter Horan, chief executive officer of DevX, said more alliances will follow the agreement with jGuru.

“In the near future, we will continue our strategic partnerships and acquisitions and roll-out new tools and offerings to provide a one-stop-shop for developers and the marketers seeking to reach our high-powered audience,” he said.
