Intuitive Systems, Inc. this week announced the release of OptimizeIt 2.0 Professional, a Java language profiling tool that enables developers to solve performance issues in Java applets and applications.

Among the new features of OptimizeIt 2.0 Professional are new CPU and memory
profiling capabilities that allow developers to easily spot abnormalities.
The utility enables programmers to test and improve the performance of Java
programs by detecting the lines of code that are responsible for excessive
memory allocation or inefficient processor use.

Intuitive said OptimizeIt is designed to work on multiple platforms and Java implementations, and is easy to connect to custom applications.

The product also incorporates a new object reference browser that instantly shows why an object is not garbage collected.

Other features include:

  • hot spot detectors
  • the ability to export data as ASCII or HTML
  • the ability to start and stop profilers from within a user’s code
  • faster installation procedures using a configuration wizard

OptimizeIt 2.0 Professional for Windows will be available from the OptimizeIt Web site after March 30,
with a Solaris version available in April. The product will sell for a retail
price of $389 at that time.
