JetBrains Adds IDE to JBoss Community

Integrated Development Environment (IDE) provider JetBrains joined the
growing list of JBoss Group’s JBoss Preferred Affiliates Program Monday,
serving up its application developer tools to the JBoss developer
community.

JBoss Group unveiled its Preferred Affiliates Program in February in an
effort to help further grow the developer community for its open-source
J2EE application server, JBoss. The program brings together
independent software vendors (ISVs) who integrate their offerings with
JBoss, an application server built on the J2EE 1.3 standard which includes
the basic EJB container and JMX infrastructure, JBossMQ for JMS messaging,
JBossMX for mail, JBossTX for JTA/JTS transactions, JBossSX for JAAS based
security, JBossCX for JCA connectivity and JBossCMP for CMP persistence.

As an affiliate, Prague-based JetBrains will provide its IntelliJ IDEA to
the JBoss developer community, offering up refactoring support, intelligent
code editing assistance, and a Code Inspection tool. It also offers
integrated CVS, VSS and Star Team support, an open API for third-party
plug-in support, and other productivity features.

IntelliJ IDEA has garnered respect in the Java developer community, winning
Software Development Magazine’s Jolt Product Award in the Languages and
Development Environments category in 2002, and winning a productivity award
from the magazine in the same category this year.

In addition, the company opened two U.S. regional offices — one in
Medford, N.J., and the other in San Mateo, Calif. — in January, citing
“overwhelming demand” for the product.

“Both JBoss and JetBrains are rapidly gaining in popularity with Java
developers, including those who understand the value of an open-source
approach,” said Scott Stark, chief technology officer of JBoss Group. “This
relationship gives developers a complete, best-of-breed solution for
enhancing their productivity, while developing and deploying the best Java
applications faster, more easily and more efficiently than ever before.”

JetBrains joins a list of preferred affiliates that includes abaXX
Technology, Alignment Software, AltoWeb, Arjuna Technologies, Borland,
Collaxa, Cysive, Ericom Software, Gluecode Software, Oak Grove Systems,
SpiritSoft, and WebMethods.

Other technologies offered up through the program include components for
building process portals, a portal environment for Web applications,
performance management software, an application platform, transactioning
and messaging products, Web services orchestration tools, an interaction
server, tools for extending legacy systems to Web and wireless
applications, business automation software, and application integration
software.
