Macromedia Inc. Wednesday launched a
new search site for the developer community.
The Macromedia Exchange for
Dreamweaver UltraDev lets developers search for extensions they want,
participate in discussion threads, receive e-mail updates and rate and
review the extensions.
Macromedia’s sample extensions include extensions that
will add e-commerce capabilities to sites, generate and send e-mail based on
Web form data entered through the browser and protect pages from
unauthorized visitors.
The site is modeled after the Macromedia Exchange for Dreamweaver site,
which launched in April. To date it has distributed more than a
quarter-million extensions to more than 100,000 registered developers.
“Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev enables our developer community to
continually extend the functionality of the product to keep up with the
rapid rate of change on the Web,” said Beth Davis, vice president of product
marketing for Macromedia. “The open architecture of Dreamweaver UltraDev
makes it easy for developers to use Web standards to add new features to the
product.”
