Macromedia Inc. Monday rolled out
the first authoring software that allows developers to
visually create and edit data-driven Web applications on multiple server
platforms.

Macromedia’s (MACR)
Dreamweaver UltraDev can accelerate delivery of projects ranging from
dynamically generated pages and forms, to enterprise class solutions such as
e-commerce stores, inventory management systems and database applications
for intranets.

For convenience and reliability, Dreamweaver UltraDev generates applications
that take advantage of active server pages, Sun Microsystems
Inc.
(SUNW)
JavaServer Pages (JSP) and Allaire
Corp.
(ALLR)
ColdFusion Markup Language technologies to connect to industry
standard servers.

Dreamweaver UltraDev also allows users to preview Web applications populated
with live, editable data within the authoring environment. Application
builders can inspect databases, build queries, create application logic, and
then view dynamic content using Live Data Preview.

This June, Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev will be available for both
Macintosh and Windows platforms at an estimated street price of $599.
Registered Dreamweaver 3 customers can purchase Dreamweaver UltraDev for a
special price of $299.

Macromedia first announced the arrival of UltraDev in April. The firm also
expects to roll out its LikeMinds E-Mail soom. This tool uses “collaborative
filtering” technology to analyze the surfing and buying patterns of large
groups of Web users to predict future behavior. Its purpose is to help Web
sites target e-mail to specific consumer and demographic groups.
