this week released DataDirect Connect for XML.

joins Merant’s DataDirect
product family as a technology that will enable enterprises to access
and integrate real-time XML data across established standards-based
applications.
DataDirect Connection removes the need for enterprises to rewrite
applications if they wish to leverage XML. It thus reduces the amount of
work required to implement XML for data integration, and Merant believes
DataDirect Connection will help customers implement business-to-business
systems more quickly.
DataDirect Connection provides a way to exchange and integrate data
across standard
tools and applications, such as Microsoft Visual Basic, Seagate Info, and Allaire ColdFusion. DataDirect Connect for XML provides SQL capabilities to applications accessing XML data, increasing customer flexibility, speeding deployment of new applications, and leveraging existing skills and tools.
Merant (MRNT) believes DataDirect Connect for XML will be one of the technologies fundamental to helping enterprises implement its Egility Data Integration solution, which
combines products and services designed to extend the effectiveness of data in the enterprise value chain.
The Egility Data Integration enables rapid
