Mercury Interactive Launches Astra Line

Mercury Interactive Corp. (MERQ)
Monday released Astra LoadTest and Astra
QuickTest, products in its Astra family that validate Web site content,
reliability and performance.

Astra LoadTest and Astra QuickTest join Astra
SiteManager in the Mercury Interactive family of Web site productivity
tools.

The three components of the Astra product line work together to verify
that changes in functionality on a Web site have been implemented and work
correctly.

  • Astra
    LoadTest
    tests the scalability and performance of Web applications and
    enables enterprises to emulate the traffic of thousands of users to identify
    and isolate bottlenecks and optimize user experience.

  • Astra
    QuickTest
    is an icon-based tool for testing dynamically changing Web
    applications. The tool mirrors end-user behavior to create interactive
    customizable tests that simplify and shorten the testing cycle.

  • Astra
    SiteManager
    is a comprehensive visual Web site management tool. It
    automatically schedules and performs scans of an entire Web site,
    highlighting functional areas with color-coded links and URLs to create a
    complete visual map of the site.

The three products are integrated to to make testing as easy as using a
browser.
They are designed to accelerate testing and optimize the end-user’s
experience. Astra products use Active Screen technology, which is composed
of three parts: an icon-based test, an interactive page view, and an
integrated spreadsheet

Mercury Interactive also announced its partnership today with Intraware, an online
distributor of business software and services. Intraware claims a customer
base of more than 170,000. The site allows IT professionals to research,
evaluate, purchase, and update their business software online.

The Astra family of products can also be downloaded and purchased from
Mercury’s site. Astra SiteManager
is fully functional and can be downloaded for free. Astra LoadTest and
Astra QuickTest are available in trial and beta editions, respectively.
Astra QuickTest is priced at $2,995 and AstraLoad Test is priced between
$9,995 and $29,995, depending on the number of users.

All of Mercury Interactive various products are targeted toward technical
and nontechnical business users helping determine IS priorities and
requirements. The products aim to accelerate the deployment process because
they are designed to support both business and IS needs. They automate the
testing of complex applications throughout the enterprise and help ensure
software works as required. Mercury Interactive customers include Cornhill
Insurance, Lanier Worldwide, Nasdaq-Amex Market Group, Sandia National Labs,
Siemens Telecom Networks, and Texaco (UK).
